Chef Michael O’Hare will open the 16-cover In Lamentation with an ‘ever-evolving’ menu that will be kept as a surprise for diners
Chef Michael O’Hare is to open his new tasting-menu only restaurant In Lamentation in Boston Spa, Leeds in February.
The 16-cover restaurant at 174 High Street, Boston Spa will serve a £165 menu with prepayment required for booking.
Its website said that the limited covers meant that “we have the freedom to refine, to focus, and to push Michael’s creative vision as far as possible in the pursuit of something truly exceptional”.
Menus for In Lamentation will not be published as “they are ever-evolving – and part of the experience is preserving an element of surprise for our guests”.
The website added: “Free from industry trends, In Lamentation invites guests to engage in a truly unique and interactive culinary journey.”
It will be a return to business for O’Hare after the closure of Psycho Sandbar in October 2024. The restaurant, which was previously operated as the Michelin-starred Man Behind the Curtain, went into liquidation owing almost £1m.
At the time O’Hare said the closure of the restaurant was “very much based upon my exciting plans for the future” and admitted it was “reflective of the changing experience market we all live in”.
Last month the chef was declared bankrupt by the administrators of the Man Behind the Curtain Leeds Limited.
O’Hare said on Instagram that any guest with outstanding gift vouchers from Psycho Sandbar would be entitled to redeem them at In Lamentation. The restaurant is scheduled to open on 26 February 2026.
He added: Thanks for your patience. I wholeheartedly look forward to cooking for you in the new year.”
