The executive chef will step down from the central London restaurant collection after four years
Tom Cenci is to step down as executive chef of London private members’ clubs and restaurant collection Maslow’s, after four years in the role.
The chef announced his departure on Instagram, describing it as “bittersweet news”.
Maslow’s, founded by Guy Ivesha, encompasses Italian restaurant Mortimer House Kitchen in Fitzrovia and two Soho sites: Middle Eastern-inspired sharing plates concept Yasmin and modern British restaurant Nessa.
“These past four years have been an absolutely extraordinary journey filled with growth, creativity, and memorable experiences. Leading the kitchens at Nessa, Yasmin and Mortimer House Kitchen has been one of the greatest honours and privileges of my career,” Cenci wrote.
“Together with our amazing and dedicated teams, we’ve created countless memorable dishes, menus and exciting concepts, and most importantly, we’ve built a vibrant community centred around the joy and celebration of great food.”
Cenci took over Mortimer House Kitchen with an Italian concept in February 2024, located on the ground floor of private members’ club Mortimer House. The menu was influenced by his family summers spent in Orta San Giulio, Piedmont and the Amalfi Coast, and made use of British and Italian produce.
This followed Nessa’s launch in 2022 on the ground floor of 1 Warwick, a sister private members’ club to Mortimer House.
Cenci’s Instagram post continued: “To the talented chefs and staff members I’ve had the privilege of working alongside throughout these years – thank you sincerely for your unwavering dedication, boundless creativity, and infectious passion for what we do. To our wonderful guests who trusted us with your special celebrations, date nights, and everyday moments – thank you from the bottom of my heart for letting us be part of your stories and memories.
“While this particular chapter is closing, I’ll be taking some well-deserved time to reflect on this journey, recharge my batteries, and explore new culinary adventures and opportunities that await.”
Cenci’s previous roles include executive chef at both Loyal Tavern in Bermondsey and Duck & Waffle. He was also head of food for both 26 Grains at Neal’s Yard in London’s Covent Garden and sister restaurant Stoney Street in Borough Market.
