Family-run hospitality group JMK bought the hotel using a £15m loan three years ago
The former Seraphine Kensington hotel in London is to relaunch as the Kensington Hideaway in January 2026 after a multimillion-pound renovation.
Family-run hospitality group JMK has overseen the revamp of the 59-room hotel after buying it and a sister Hammersmith property with a £15m loan in 2022.
The Kensington hotel has been closed since 2023 and will relaunch with a literary-inspired design with rooms celebrating authors including Agatha Christie, TS Eliot and PL Travers.
It will feature a new 35-cover restaurant and bar, with drinks inspired by the area’s literary icons.
The hotel is located minutes away from the Royal Albert Hall, Kensington Palace and the Natural History Museum.
General manager Rohit Bisht said: “Following a major investment and a complete reimagining of the space, we’re proud to present a hotel that combines luxury, comfort and a genuine sense of place. Every element has been carefully designed to make guests feel at home while immersing them in the charm and cultural spirit of Kensington.”
JMK Group’s portfolio includes four hotels in Ireland and three in London, including the Hampton by Hilton London Ealing and the Seraphine Hammersmith.
Earlier this year the group secured a £16.6m loan from OakNorth bank to develop a Grade II-listed office block in the City of London into a 185-room hotel, subject to planning permission.
