The group joins a number of other British Indian restaurants heading stateside

Kricket has fuelled speculation it could be considering opening a New York restaurant after confirming plans for a pop-up in the city.
The Indian small plates restaurant group will run a two-night residency at Comal, a Mexican restaurant on the Lower East Side, on 6-7 October.
Tickets are $90 a head for food only, with the menu set to include Kricket’s classic Keralan fried chicken and dishes created in collaboration with Comal such as a Wagyu skirt with green peppercorn and bone marrow nihari sauce.
Kricket joins a number of other British Indian restaurants heading stateside. JKS Restaurants has signed a lease to open its Punjabi restaurant Ambassadors Clubhouse in Manhattan this autumn, while an outpost of Gymkhana will launch in Las Vegas later in the year.
Dishoom will launch its first New York restaurant in 2026 after securing a £300m investment from US firm L Catterton. The group ran a sold-out breakfast pop-up at the city’s Pastis restaurant last year.
The New York Times has reported that Asma Khan’s Darjeeling Express is also slated to open a site next year following a pop-up.
Kricket was founded by Rik Campbell and Will Bowlby (pictured) in a Brixton shipping container in 2015 and has grown to four London restaurants with the backing of investor White Rabbit Projects.
It has rapidly expanded over the past two years, with openings in Canary Wharf in 2024 and Shoreditch in March and a 4,000 sq ft venue set to launch at Neal’s Yard in Covent Garden later this year.
Kricket also runs two long-standing restaurants in Brixton and Soho.
