New restaurant Attawa opens in London's Dalston

Attawa restaurant in London's Dalston Junction opened today, serving dishes from the Punjab region of Northern India.

Ravinder and Amar Madhray are the husband and wife team behind the restaurant, and own the building. Attawa is the name of the couple's family village in Punjab, where they lived until relocating to London in the 1970s. The menu has been designed by MasterChef: The Professionals 2019 semi-finalist Arbinder Dugal

The restaurant was originally due to open in March just before lockdown. For now the menu is available for takeaway and collection and has been rewritten for this purpose, with dishes such as amritsa khatta ladoo (fried lentil dumplings), Punjabi chicken kari, and tandoor lamb sheek.

The Madhrays hope to open the restaurant properly in mid-July, pending government advice and regulations.
