The group has said it is focusing on growing its carveries and accommodation arm
RedCat Hospitality has agreed to sell all 21 pubs in its leased and tenanted division to Admiral Taverns.
The deal will see RedCat, which is led by former Greene King boss Rooney Anand, shift its focus to its managed pubs and rooms arm, which includes the 36-strong Coaching Inn Group.
RedCat was founded in 2021 to take advantage of a swathe of pub sites coming to the market after the pandemic and grew to around 100 sites.
However, it has restructured its portfolio over the last two years and the company plans to invest up to £12m into its estate this year.
The group said it was focused on growing its carveries and accommodation arm following a “transformational” 12 months for the business.
It has since reported a rise in sales and profits, with adjusted EBITDA rising 290% to £8.8m during the year to 30 March 2025. Room sales jumped 8% amid a boom in demand in the pubs with rooms market.
RedCat Hospitality chief executive Richard Lewis said: “This is the right move for our business. RedCat’s greatest opportunity lies in further expanding and investing behind our managed business and pubs with rooms model, where we see strong and sustained customer demand.”
The 21 pubs in the sale will join Admiral’s estate of 1,350 community, wet-led pubs.
Admiral Taverns chief executive Chris Jowsey said: “This high-quality portfolio complements our existing estate and marks yet another step forward against our strategy, as we continue to expand our nationwide footprint and cement our position as the UK’s leading community pub group.”
RedCat was reportedly in talks to buy Greene King’s Venture Hotels business for £90m, but the deal is understood not to have moved forward.
