Pasture Birmingham

Sam Elliott, chef-owner of Pasture restaurants in Bristol and Cardiff, is set to open a 7,000 sq ft site – his biggest to date – in Birmingham. Pasture Birmingham will offer fire-based cooking, resident DJs and a selection of steaks.

1864 Rooftop Bar & Kitchen

 

The 1864 Rooftop Bar & Kitchen has opened on top of John Lewis & Partners’ flagship Oxford Street store in London. The 7,310 sq ft venue on the sixth floor can accommodate up to 200 people standing, with an additional 64 for dining across the indoor bar, outdoor terrace and greenhouse-style booths.

Bobo Social

 

Modern British and European diner Bobo Social has launched its third site in London’s Ealing Broadway. The 120-cover restaurant (160-cover in summer with a terrace) offers a daily brunch and à la carte menu of sharing plates such as chilli salt squid, braised lamb croquettes and Devon crab tostada.

Chez Roux

 

Michel Roux Jr has launched Chez Roux at the Langham, London, which offers British classics with a French twist. The restaurant showcases dishes that have been inspired by Roux’s childhood memories of life in rural Kent, combined with the first menus from Le Gavroche in 1967.

Giant Yorkie Roast

 

Giant Yorkie Roast Co is one of the latest operators to join the food hall at Castle Quarter shopping centre in Norwich. It will be offering roast dinner-style wraps filled with turkey, pulled pork, beef brisket or a range of vegetarian options.

Julie’s

 

Julie’s in London’s Holland Park (above) has reopened under new ownership. Tara MacBain has partnered with interior design studio Rosanna Bossom and chef patron Owen Kenworthy to offer modern French cooking with seasonal produce.

Roth Bar

 

Artfarm, the independent hospitality company behind the Fife Arms hotel in Braemar and Mount St Restaurant in London’s Mayfair, is to open Roth Bar in Bruton, Somerset. Roth Bar takes its name from the late artist Dieter Roth, who created the gallery’s then bar and restaurant Roth Bar & Grill in the 1970s.

Atis

 

Salad bar Atis is to launch its flagship restaurant on London’s Regent Street, marking its sixth opening in the capital. Additional sites have been planned for Monument, Moorgate, Covent Garden and Battersea. An exclusive bowl will be available at the Regent Street store.

Sotto Cucina & Bar

 

Sicilian restaurant Sotto Cucina & Bar has opened at Hyatt Place London City East in Whitechapel. Executive chef Alfio Laudani, who was previously at the Rex Whistler and Cipriani, has combined Catanian flavours with locally sourced British ingredients.

The Store

 

The Store hotel has opened in the former site of the historic Boswells department store in Oxford. The seven-storey, 101-bedroom property features three restaurants and bars, a co-working space and an urban spa in partnership with British brand Oskia.

Kati Roll Company

 

Payal Saha’s Kati Roll Company has launched its second site in London’s Liverpool Street. It comes 16 years after the US-born brand first entered the UK market with a store in Soho. Dishes have been inspired by the flavours of Kolkata.

Pizza Pilgrims

 

Neapolitan pizzeria Pizza Pilgrims is set to open in London’s Euston. The 104-cover restaurant takes inspiration from the Amalfi Coast, complete with a beach-themed bar, disco balls, wall art and colourful umbrellas.

Roe, Canary Wharf, London

The team behind Fallow – chefs Will Murray and Jack Croft, alongside business partner James Robson – have opened their next venture, Roe, in Wood Wharf in London.

 

Roe follows the same nose-to-tail ethos and commitment to zero waste as Fallow.

 

The menu is inspired by Cornwall and southern England and is led by head chef Jon Bowring (formerly of Dinner by Heston Blumenthal), who hails from the region. Underused cuts of meat from the eponymous roe deer feature in dishes such as the roe mixed grill.

 

The 500-cover restaurant spans three floors and includes a wraparound terrace overlooking the South Dock canal, as well as a growing wall, which provides some of the restaurant’s produce.

Aima Indigo and Mexico City chef Daniel Sanchez are set to open El Cenote, a Mexican-inspired bar in Camden in London. The menu will feature traditional Mexican street food alongside cocktails ranging from classic Margaritas to twists on signature drinks.

The terrace at Brooklands by Claude Bosi at the Peninsula London has reopened. The 26-cover terrace overlooking Hyde Park Corner and the Wellington Arch offers menus designed by Claude Bosi and Francesco Dibenedetto.

Doughnation, Covent Garden, London

New artisan pizza restaurant Doughnation is opening in London’s Covent Garden in May. The 96 sq ft site will include a terrace in Covent Garden’s piazza, and the cost of a slice from each pizza ordered will be donated to philanthropic causes.

July, Fitzrovia, London

Food writer Solynka Dumas and her partner Julian Oschmann have opened an Alsatian-inspired restaurant and wine bar in London’s Fitzrovia. An all-day menu transitions from breakfast pastries and coffee to bar snacks and small plates, with low-intervention wines.

Wagamama, Doncaster

Wagamama has opened its newest outpost at the Dome Leisure Centre in Doncaster.

 

The 162-cover restaurant will serve classic dishes from its 50% plant-based menu, as well as new items such as hotpot.
