Marco Pierre White Steakhouse and Grill is a lazy effort, says critic
Marco Pierre White Steakhouse and Grill in the City of London "resembles a lazy franchise", claims the Metro's food critic.
The former Lanes restaurant, which relaunched under the Marco Pierre White banner in February, is overpriced and, for a steakhouse, offers a "pretty perfunctory" choice of steaks, says Marina O'Loughlin.
Meanwhile Time Out finds that the Whitechapel Gallery Dining Room, where Maria Elia is head chef, still has a few teething problems.
"We ate here in the opening week, when the 20% opening discount felt like an admission that the place was still only 80% ready," food critic Charmaine Mok says.
The London Evening Standard's Fay Maschler is unsure about the name and the décor at the newly-opened pub, the Swan & Edgar, while Richard Vines of Bloomberg enjoys the food and low prices at Sedap.
