Galton Blackiston seeks investment to build on success of Morston Hall

Galton Blackiston is seeking an investor to help build on his successful 30 years at Morston Hall hotel and restaurant in North Norfolk.

Galton and Tracy Blackiston have owned the property since 1992 and held a Michelin star at its fine dining restaurant for 25 years.

The 13-bedroom hotel sits in two acres of land and holds four red AA stars and four AA rosettes.

Blackiston said he hoped investment would allow him to realise further ambitions for the property, with the possibility of adding additional bedrooms as well as exploring further culinary opportunities.

He confirmed that he and his team would remain at the property and continue to lead the fine dining restaurant.

Blackiston began his career at Miller Howe in the Lake District, working his way up to the position of head chef. He then worked in restaurants in New York, Canada, South Africa and London before moving to Norfolk.

A year after taking over Morston Hall, Blackiston won the Newcomer Award at the 1993 Catey Awards.

In its analysis of Morston Hall, the Michelin Guide Great Britain & Ireland said: "A few bites in and it's patently obvious that Galton Blackiston is a chef with a deep knowledge and appreciation of the great produce found in Norfolk.

"Whether picked from the kitchen garden, foraged from nearby beaches or delivered by local fishermen, the ingredients are superb, and are treated well in dishes with classical flavour combinations."
