Bankside hotel appoints new Art Yard executive chef

07 January 2020 by

Bankside hotel on London's South Bank has appointed Stephen Englefield executive chef of its Art Yard restaurant.

He joins the 161-bedroom hotel from Gridiron at the Como Metropolitan hotel in Mayfair and replaces Lee Streeton. Originally from Australia, Englefield has lived and worked in London for over 16 years, having also worked as head chef at the Jugged Hare in Barbican.

Bankside hotel and Art Yard bar & Kitchen launched in October 2018, the latter offering a European-influenced menu.

Englefield said: "I'm thrilled to be joining Art Yard Bar & Kitchen. The restaurant's concept is a refreshing take on an informal dining experience and I'm looking forward to putting my own twist on it. With a focus on design, both the hotel and restaurant are unique, and I'll be applying this to the food so that guests and diners enjoy an all-round memorable experience."
