Carlo Scotto’s latest restaurant at the Crazy Bear hotel in Beaconsfield is now open for reservations

Bear by Carlo Scotto has confirmed an opening date of 15 October.
The restaurant, which is situated in the Crazy Bear hotel in Beaconsfield, will feature a 14-cover chef’s table offering a menu of foraged ingredients and seasonal vegetables.
Dishes will include ike jime Chalk Stream trout with wild sea beets, green walnuts and ardbeg; miso glazed duck with blue moon radish, girolles, damsons and umeshu jus, and caramelised French toast with St Helena, meadowsweet and Beaconsfield truffle honey.
It is the first new opening for Scotto since he left London’s Amethyst restaurant in June 2023 due to “differences with his business partners”.
Amethyst won four AA rosettes and received positive reviews but closed following Scotto’s departure after a year of trading.
The chef, who previously cooked at Xier in Marylebone, said he was taking a hiatus from the industry to consider his future options.
Bear by Carlo Scotto was originally due to open in spring 2025, with Scotto appointed as chef patron of the new restaurant at the Crazy Bear hotel in Beaconsfield in early December 2024.
Later that month the Crazy Bear hotel group – which runs two hotels in Stadhampton and Beaconsfield – filed a notice to appoint administrators after attempts to attract new investment failed.
Shortly after that in January 2025, the senior leadership team of the group confirmed they had completed a management buyout of the business.
