The real estate owner already operates the Zedwell Underground Tottenham Court Road hotel located beneath the St Giles site
Criterion Capital, owner of Zedwell hotels, has acquired the St Giles London hotel on Tottenham Court Road.
Full ownership of the 732-room central London property raises Criterion’s West End hotel portfolio to more than 3,700 operating hotel rooms. Its pipeline is set to exceed 9,000 rooms by 2029.
Asif Aziz, founder of Criterion, had previously been involved in the sale of the hotel back in 1993 to Ravenscroft Investments and in 2006 acquired the NCP car park located beneath the St Giles site that was later transformed into Zedwell Underground Tottenham Court Road in 2023.
Estates Gazette reported the acquisition of St Giles was valued at £220m.
Earlier this week, it was announced Criterion Capital had also partnered with Neos Hospitality to relaunch the former site of historic nightclub Tiger Tiger in London’s Piccadilly.
In October last year, the real estate owner and operator also launched the 1,000-bed Zedwell Capsule Hotel Piccadilly Circus.
Criterion Capital’s hotel portfolio consists of 28 hotels, while its commercial holdings span more than 50 buildings in prime London locations.
