The hotel, golf and spa resort near Glasgow was bought out of administration by Dubai-based Dutco Group and Align Partners late last year.
The new owners of Mar Hall Hotel, Golf & Spa Resort in Bishopton in Renfrewshire have revealed plans to add 30 lodges to the estate, which will raise the property’s room count from 70 to 129.
Mar Hall fell into administration in September last year but was saved from collapse three months later by Dubai-based firm Dutco Group and investment and asset management firm Align Partners.
At the time of the acquisition, the new owners announced they would invest £15m into expanding and upgrading the property to “rival world-class resorts such as Cameron House and Gleneagles”.
The lodges will be located within the 240-acre woodland estate, with views of the River Clyde and the Kilpatrick hills.
They will offer between one to four bedrooms and consist of a private entrance, an outdoor terrace, a hot tub, a superking bed, a dressing area and a log burner.
Those staying in the lodges will also be given access to their own bicycles to explore the neighbouring Luss estate.
Mar Hall has submitted the planning application for the lodges to Renfrewshire Council, with work due to start immediately upon approval.
The hotel recently launched a refurbished leisure suite that features a gym, a 20-metre swimming pool, saunas, steam rooms, a relaxation space and an outdoor thermal suite.
It also appointed Tony Tapia as executive head chef, while Louise Campbell has been named head pastry chef.
Joe Gallacher, general manager at Mar Hall Hotel, Golf & Spa Resort, said: “We’ve already completed significant improvements, which our guests and members have experienced first-hand in recent months, and it’s fantastic to progress the next stage of our redevelopment by submitting the planning as part of our ambitious vision for the Resort.”
Mar Hall dates back to 1828 and is situated in a 240-acre woodland estate that borders an 18-hole championship golf course. It was relaunched as a hotel in 2004 and has hosted celebrity guests such as Harry Styles, Brad Pitt and Ed Sheeran.
