Westfield dining outlets up for grabs

Westfield, London's largest retail and leisure centre, which is scheduled to open late next year, has begun leasing its food quarter, the Eat Gallery.

The £1.6b centre, which will be located in Shepherd's Bush in west London, will include 270 shops, event space and more than 40 dining outlets. The food offer will comprise a street of restaurants, a food gallery, a family restaurant area and cafés scattered throughout the halls.

A spokeswoman for Westfield said most of the operators would be small groups with fewer than six restaurants in their portfolio.

"The mix will be eclectic and international, and price points and offer will vary from a coffee to a quick lunch for around £10 to a £30-a-head restaurant meal," she said. The restaurants would be designed to match the retail offer in sections of Westfield, which include the high-end retail area The Village, with shops such as Louis Vuitton, she added.

Michael Gutman, Westfield's managing director for the UK and Europe, said the response from high-calibre operators so far had been great. "The centre has really caught the upswing in interest in dining out in London and will present an exciting selection of home-grown and European cuisines," he added.
