Georgian dumpling restaurant Kinkally among new additions to Michelin Guide
Eight new restaurants, including Georgian dumpling specialist Kinkally in London (pictured) and Montrose in Edinburgh, have been added to the Michelin Guide Great Britain and Ireland's selection this month.
The red book's inspectors are on the road year-round and update its listings monthly with additions highlighted by a ‘New' symbol on the Michelin app and website.
It will not be confirmed if they will receive a Michelin star, Bib Gourmand, Michelin Plate, or other award until the next formal Michelin Guide ceremony.
Kinkally, which was opened in Fitzrovia last October by resturateur Diana Militski and chef David Chelidze, specialises in Georgian small plates and khinkali, a twisted dumpling with fillings including pumpkin, langoustine or beef. It was praised by Michelin for its dishes that are "fun, cool and a delight to eat".
Montrose, the latest Edinburgh opening from the team behind the city's Michelin-starred Timberyard restaurant, was recognised by the guide for its set menu serving "big, bold flavours" and dishes such as game tortellini and piquant green tomatoes.
Other new additions included neighbourhood bistro Bavette in Horsforth, Leeds. The "overtly French" restaurant was opened in February by Sandy Jarvis and Clément Cousin, who met while working at London wine bar Terroirs.
Meanwhile, chef-owner Ash Valenzuela-Heeger's South African-inspired restaurant Rabbit in Birmingham was celebrated for bringing "punchy, globally influenced cooking in Cape Town" to Stirchley.
