The latest hospitality venues to open their doors across the UK in September 2023

A fresh season and a brand new school year means a shiny cohort of restaurants, bars, pubs and hotels opening across the UK. From a restaurant opening its new bakery in London's Islington to a Scottish hotel bringing a new eatery, there's plenty to feast your eyes on.

42 Holborn, London

The Zeren Group has opened Mediterranean restaurant 42 Holborn in a Grade II-listed building in London, originally designed by Sir Edwin Landseer Lutyens.

Food and beverage director Adnan Özkara, who has worked at Hakkasan, Park Chinois and Jeru Mayfair, has partnered with executive chef Erdal Atas to offer 42 dishes, including vegetarian croquettes and Tuscan chicken.

The interiors feature wood, leather and marble in deep blues and earthy browns, with a geometrically tiled bar, dining area and private dining room.

The restaurant is open for lunch and dinner, Monday to Saturday.

Bibimbap Edinburgh

Korean diner Bibimbap has opened in Edinburgh, offering both sit-down and grab-and-go options. The 30-cover restaurant offers a range of Korean treats under head chef Young Lee.

Solis, Battersea, London

Chefs Zijun Meng and Ana Gonçalves will open an 80-cover restaurant, Solis, in London's Battersea. The grill, named after 16th-century explorer Juan Díaz de Solis, will offer flavours of Spain, Portugal, Uruguay and Argentina.

Pizza restaurant Civerinos has opened its first store in Glasgow and its fourth branch overall. The pizzeria, founded by Michele Civiera, features bent-plywood furniture, a DJ booth, standing tables and graffiti by local artist Pizza Boy.

The Good Egg, Camden, London

Middle Eastern-inspired restaurant the Good Egg will be opening in London's Camden. The all-day, 70-cover diner will offer dishes that pay homage to Tel Aviv's food stalls and the bagel bakeries of New York.

Modern British restaurant Red Vine has opened in London's Clapham. Owner Richard Herbert and head chef Julio Amado have created dishes with a focus on wine and local ingredients with a Mediterranean twist.

The 411, Angel, London

Incipio Group has returned with the launch of the 400-cover neighbourhood bar, the 411 in London's Angel. Inspired by the buzz of New York's Soho district, the 411 offers an extensive house cocktail list and a selection of classic American bites.

Kayu Bakehouse, Mayfair London

Artisan bakery Kayu Bakehouse has announced it is set to open its first UK site in London's Mayfair.

The French-inspired bakery was founded by Dubai-based head chef Karim Bourgi, who graduated from Le Cordon Bleu Paris in 2000. He was previously responsible for the opening of La Maison Du Chocolat Paris and the Hermès Paris Café in Dubai.

The Bakehouse will feature golden spider marble furnishings that have been imported from Greece to create a luxury setting. It will also offer a selection of sweet treats crafted by "a patient, meticulous person who enjoys working in a very detailed, systematic way", which is the definition of the word kayu.

London Stock, Mayfair, London

Le Cordon Bleu-trained Assem Abdel Hady and Andrés Bernal will be opening fine dining restaurant London Stock in Mayfair, London, with head chef Sebastian Rast, who was previously at Hide Above. London Stock in Wandsworth launched in January 2020.

Korean omakase restaurant Korean Grill Kensington (KGK) has opened. Guests can pair meat and vegetables with side dishes such as ssamjang sauce, kimchi and seasonal namul vegetables.

The Knaresborough Inn, Yorkshire

The Inn Collection Group has launched the Knaresborough Inn in Yorkshire following a year-long refurbishment of the former Dower House Hotel & Spa. The property now has 18 new bedrooms, a beer garden and an additional 100 covers indoors.

Bistro Freddie, Shoreditch, London

Dominic Hamdy, founder of Crispin in London's Spitalfields, is set to launch Bistro Freddie in Shoreditch with head chef Anna Søgaard from Manchester restaurant Erst. The 45-cover restaurant will offer banquette and kitchen counter seating.

Oakberry Açai, Fitzrovia, London

Brazilian açai brand Oakberry will be opening a flagship store in London's Fitzrovia as it prepares to launch in multiple sites across the UK. The London site is the brand's second opening since launching in Brighton last year. Oakberry currently has more than 600 locations worldwide, all of which serve sustainably farmed açai berries that have been certified as 100% organic, vegan and free of artificial food colourings.

The London restaurant will offer 45 covers across two levels, with design features such as splashes of purple, wooden benches, high-top tables and foliage. Customers will be able to create their own bowls from three sizes with unlimited toppings. The base will include açai, seasonal fruit, peanut butter and chia pudding. Smoothies, matcha, protein bars and speciality coffee will also be available.

The Ginistry, Epsom, Surrey

The Ginistry bar has opened a second site in Epsom, Surrey, following on from the launch of the Ginistry in Oxted, also in Surrey. The 100-cover venue offers more than 130 types of gin and features a mix of vintage and rustic elements, bold wallpaper and alfresco seating.

Sukoshi Sushi, Covent Garden, London

Chef Andrew Le and his father are opening Sukoshi Sushi in London's Covent Garden. The sushi bar will join seven other independent food businesses in Cucumber Alley, Seven Dials Market, offering salmon from Scotland and hiramasa kingfish from Australia.

Italian restaurant and delicatessen Lina Stores will be opening a hidden aperitivo bar, Bar Lina, in London's Soho. A Lina Stores fresh pasta kitchen has been transformed into a 28-cover candle-lit bar with velvet banquettes, bottle displays and red marble.

American rock ‘n' roll cocktail bar Mojo is relocating to Liverpool One after 15 years in Back Berry Street. The new venue provides opportunities for beer pong, cocktail masterclasses, live sports and bottomless brunch. More than 100 cocktails are available.

David Yeo, founder of Aqua Restaurant Group, is launching Italian seafood restaurant Azzurra in London's Kensington. Guests will have access to a 16m bar offering a mix of fresh fish, pizza and signature cocktails. Dishes will showcase a ‘boat to table' philosophy.

Brasserie-style restaurant 65a will be opening in London's Spitalfields under executive chef Maura Baxter. The menu will showcase classic French cuisine, and the 155-cover site will feature stripped-back interiors and an expansive terrace.

Golden Gorse and Bar Ross, Dornoch

The Golden Gorse restaurant and Bar Ross have opened in the Dornoch Station hotel in Durnoch in the Scottish Highlands.

The property was acquired by Marine & Lawn Hotels & Resorts, an Adventurous Journeys Capital brand, in 2022 and has since undergone an extensive refurbishment.

The restaurant showcases locally sourced game from the Highlands and fish from Sutherland and is run by executive chef Callum Phillip, who was previously head chef at Cameron House hotel in Loch Lomond and the Adamson in St Andrews.

The Golden Gorse, named after the gorse plant, offers an all-day à la carte menu, afternoon tea and a Sunday roast, while Bar Ross is home to a more casual selection of soups and platters for post-golf gatherings, such as game terrine with cheeses, radishes, celery, grapes, chutney and sourdough.
