Burger & Lobster and Goodman Steakhouse's founders announce formal split

The co-founders of Burger & Lobster, Goodman Steakhouses and Beast Restaurant have announced a formal split of their businesses.

 

Misha Zelman, Roman Zelman, Ilya Demichev, and George Bukhov-Weinstein said the decision would allow them to pursue their differing interests.

 

As part of the agreement, effective immediately, Misha and Roman have resigned as directors of Goodman Steakhouses and Beast Restaurant, while Demichev and Bukhov-Weinstein have stepped down as directors of Burger & Lobster.

 

From now on, Misha will lead on the continued expansion of Burger & Lobster, which launched its first UK site in eight years in Brighton this month, while also building Creative Restaurant Group, which is behind brands such as the Michelin-starred Humo in London’s Mayfair and Kioku by Endo at the OWO in London’s Whitehall.

 

Meanwhile, Demichev and Bukhov-Weinstein will oversee the development of Goodman Steakhouses and Beast Restaurant.

 

The pair also co-own Lita in London’s Marylebone, which launched last spring and earned its first Michelin star at the 2025 Michelin Guide Great Britain and Ireland ceremony.  

 

Misha said: “This marks a natural evolution of our business journey. We have built incredible brands together, and this decision allows us to focus on our respective strengths and visions for the future.”

 

Bukhov-Weinstein and Demichev added: “We remain proud of what we’ve achieved and look forward to taking our businesses to new heights.”

 

Goodman restaurants was founded in 2008 in London’s Mayfair and has since grown to three sites across the City of London and Canary Wharf.

 

Burger & Lobster was founded in London in 2011 and now operates 19 sites globally, including in cities such as New York, Singapore and Bangkok.

 

In 2014, the team also launched steak and crab restaurant Beast in London’s Mayfair.
