She is also due to launch her fourth Café Murano restaurant in London’s Marylebone this summer
Chef Angela Hartnett is set to open an Italian-inspired restaurant within the Royal Opera House in London this September.
Situated on the fifth floor overlooking Covent Garden, the new venue and all-day terrace bar will pay homage to the city of Turin. It is understood to be replacing the Piazza restaurant, which opened nearly three years ago.
Hartnett said: “Opening at the Royal Opera House – such an iconic London institution – is a real privilege. We’re creating something entirely new for the space: relaxed, with food that celebrates exceptional produce and simplicity. Most of all we want the restaurant and bar to be for everyone, not just for those attending a performance.”
Sophie Wybrew-Bond, chief commercial officer at the Royal Ballet and Opera, added: “We’re absolutely thrilled to be collaborating with Angela Hartnett at the Royal Opera House on creating breathtaking new spaces - where exceptional art and extraordinary food come together in perfect harmony.
"Working with our longstanding partners, Company of Cooks, and set in the vibrant heart of Covent Garden, our new restaurant and terrace bar are poised to become one of London’s most exciting dining and drinking destinations.”
Hartnett is also due to open her fourth Café Murano restaurant in London’s Marylebone this summer. The first Café Murano opened on St James Street in 2013 as a spin-off to her Michelin-starred Murano restaurant in Mayfair.
In 2007, the chef was awarded an MBE for services to the hospitality industry.
