He takes over from Axel Krueger, who first joined PPHE Hotel Group in 2010

Christian Masters has been appointed general manager at Art’otel London Hoxton.
He takes over from Axel Krueger, who took on the role in July 2023 to oversee the launch of PPHE Hotel Group’s first east London property and second Art’otel in 2024.
Krueger first joined PPHE Hotel Group as food and beverage director of Park Plaza Westminster Bridge in 2010.
Masters joined the 357-bedroom Art’otel London Hoxton in 2023 as hotel manager.
Over the course of his 20-year career, he has held numerous roles across London, including as director of event management at the St Pancras Renaissance hotel, director of rooms operations at Conrad London St James, and hotel manager at Montcalm East.
Masters said: “I am incredibly proud to take on the role of general manager at Art’otel London Hoxton. Having been part of this property’s journey from pre-opening through to a thriving operation, it’s a privilege to continue leading such a talented team. Art’otel London Hoxton is a vibrant and creative destination, and I look forward to building on its momentum as we deliver exceptional experiences for our guests and our community.”
Daniel Pedreschi, executive vice president operations, UK, PPHE Hotel Group, added: “Christian’s promotion to general manager at Art’otel London Hoxton is a testament to his exceptional leadership and unwavering commitment to operational excellence.
“From pre-opening through to establishing the hotel as a thriving destination, Christian has consistently demonstrated the vision and capability that define art’otel. We are delighted to see him take this next step and continue driving success for Art’otel London Hoxton.”
This autumn, the hotel also launched its flagship rooftop restaurant, Solaya, from Newcastle-based chef Kenny Atkinson.
PPHE Hotel Group is an international hospitality real estate company with a £2.2b portfolio.
Last month, it was revealed the hotel group is undertaking a strategic review ahead of a potential sale of the business.
