The steakhouse chain will also launch a Martini Bar within the St Pancras London hotel in King’s Cross

Steakhouse restaurant group Hawksmoor is set to take over the former site of Victor Garvey at the Midland Grand within the St Pancras London hotel later this year.
Garvey, the chef behind the Michelin-starred Sola in London’s Soho, ran the restaurant for roughly five months before it closed suddenly in July.
Prior to that, the site was overseen by Patrick Powell as the Midland Grand Dining Room. He left after just over a year in the business in July 2024.
The Grade I-listed dining room also operated as Marcus Wareing’s the Gilbert Scott for ten years until its closure in 2021.
Now the restaurant is set to be transformed into a Hawksmoor steakhouse, seating 95 covers with a private dining room and chef’s table.
Hawksmoor will also open the Martini bar in the site of the former Gothic Bar, which comes with an outdoor terrace, DJ stage and high ceilings.
Will Beckett, co-founder of Hawksmoor, said: “There are very few buildings that Huw and I have always spoken about as dream Hawksmoors, and this is one. As we approach the 20th anniversary of our first Hawksmoor restaurant, it feels perfect to be able to bring everything we’ve learned in London and beyond back to one of the most dramatic and gorgeous buildings in our hometown. Hopefully London will continue to feel as proud of Hawksmoor as we have always felt of London."
Huw Gott, co-founder of Hawskmoor, added: “I’ve always loved working with incredible architectural heritage, and there are no finer buildings around. This feels perfect. It’s historic and full of life, a place where London and the world pass through every day. And what a history, and physical presence these spaces have – it’s incredibly exciting to have a setting like this for our newest Hawksmoor, and we’re loving thinking about what will go on the menu and drinks lists.”
Hawksmoor was founded by childhood friends Beckett and Gott in east London in 2006. In 2022, it secured B Corp certification.
It currently operates 13 restaurants across the UK, United States and Ireland.
