The Newt to open second hotel

A second hotel is to open on the estate of the Newt in Somerset next year, which will only be accessible to residents.

The yet-to-be-named site on the other side of the A371, currently known as Shatwell Farm, will include 17 bedrooms, a restaurant, bar and pool.

The property will sit alongside the 23-bedroom hotel (pictured), which was built within the 17th-century, Grade II*-listed Hadspen House and stable yard buildings. It opened at the end of August and is overseen by general manager Andrew Foulkes.

The estate is owned by South African businessman Koos Bekker and former Elle Decoration South Africa editor Karen Roos, who own Babylonstoren.
