The award recognises restaurants serving quality food at a lower price point
Thirty-seven restaurants have been awarded Bib Gourmands in the Michelin Guide Great Britain & Ireland 2026.
The announcement comes a week before the Michelin Guide Great Britain & Ireland 2026 ceremony.
Chef Luke Payne’s Almanac in Glossop and Sierra Leonean restaurant Shwen Shwen in Sevenoaks were among the restaurants to receive the award recognising “good food at a great price”.
There were four Bibs awarded to Scottish restaurants, including Sebb’s in Glasgow, the latest venture from Scoop Restaurants, who already have Bib Gourmands for Ox and Finch, Margo and Ka Pao.
England is home to the majority of the new Bibs with 25 awards, 12 of which are in London, including Calong in Stoke Newington from chef Joo Won, formerly of Galvin at Windows, and Canteen in Notting Hill from the team behind fellow Bib Gourmands the Hero and the Pelican.
Wales was awarded two new Bibs for the Gaff in Abergavenny and Purple Poppadom in Cardiff, while Beau from Edō owner in Belfast was the only new Bib for Northern Ireland.
Guernsey was the only Channel Island to secure a Bib with Alba in St Peter Port, which was praised for its “globally inspired, vibrantly flavoured dishes”.
There were four new Bibs in the Republic of Ireland, three of which are in Dublin, where the awards are to be hosted this year. These include French restaurant Fôret, Italian restaurant Borgo and Asian diner Bigfan.
The Bib awards are named after Michelin’s Bibendum mascot and were launched in 1997 to recognise restaurants outside the guide’s traditional fine dining price bracket.
In 2019, this was specified as venues serving three courses for £30 or under, but Michelin now says there is “no set formula” to win a Bib. Instead, restaurants must offer “good quality, good value cooking”.
