Travel food caterer SSP Group has signed a 10-year partnership with Bournemouth Airport starting from this month.
The deal forms part of the airport’s ongoing £60m renovation, which will upgrade two existing F&B outlets under SSP over the next 12 months, as well as adding 16 new routes with Jet2holidays.
SSP revealed the finished product will involve a new bar and kitchen concept and a large grab-and-go outlet.
The group also operates bars and casual dining restaurants at Birmingham Airport, Dublin Airport and Gatwick and Newcastle airports.
Kari Daniels, chief executive of SSP UK and Ireland, said: “Bournemouth Airport is our first new UK airport location for several years, and demonstrates our growth strategy in action. We aim to be the best part of the journey, which means expanding our footprint to provide offers where our customers need us. As passenger numbers from the airport continue to rise, we’re excited to be partnering with Bournemouth and land at the perfect time ready to fuel up families for the Easter and summer getaways.”
Steve Gill, managing director at Bournemouth Airport, added: “With passenger numbers growing, enhancing our food and drink offering is a key part of enriching the overall customer experience. SSP’s investment over the next year will bring fresh, modern concepts to our terminal, ensuring our passengers have greater choice, quality and value when they travel. We look forward to working together to create a first-class experience for all who pass through our airport.”
SSP Group operates 3,000 F&B units across 37 countries. Across the UK and Ireland, the group operates nearly 600 sit-down and QSR restaurants, cafés and convenience stores across 180 locations under own brands such as Upper Crust, AMT and Soul + Grain, as well as M&S Simply Food, Starbucks and Burger King.
