The Timoneys have owned the 17th century hotel since 2011
Crossbasket Castle on the outskirts of Glasgow has transitioned into an owner-operator model, with owners Alison and Steve Timoney taking over management of the business.
The Timoneys have owned the 17th century hotel since 2011 and spent £10m restoring it before it relaunched in 2016.
The five-AA-red-star hotel also received a £20m investment last year, which led to the addition of a 40-bedroom hotel, two eco-cottages and Trocadero’s restaurant, overseen by chef Michel Roux.
The late Albert Roux originally oversaw F&B at the Crossbasket hotel restaurant and the responsibility has since passed onto his son, Michel, who continues to manage the property’s culinary offering.
Prior to the management shift, the property was part of the Inverlochy Castle Management International (ICMI) collection.
The Timoneys have partnered with hospitality expert Nick Gamble, who brings over 40 years’ experience in the sector, to support the property’s transition into new management.
Crossbasket Castle will continue to operate as normal during this period and all reservations remain unaffected.
Steve said: “We’d like to express our thanks to Inverlochy Castle Management International (ICMI) for their invaluable support over the past decade, as we now look to build on our world-renowned reputation to strengthen the hotel’s position in the market.
“Our staff remain at the heart of the exceptional service that guests have come to know and love at Crossbasket Castle and we look forward to working closely with the team to further enhance that five-star offering.”
Alison added: “This independence allows us to be agile and imaginative. We envisioned becoming the most talked-about getaway in the world, creating something truly timeless and unique. From the beginning of this project, we wanted to develop a brand that everyone, from staff to guests to agents, wants to get to know. We can now drive that forward, and the excitement is palpable.”
Norbert Lieder, managing director of ICMI, commented: “We have tremendously enjoyed working with Alison and Steve at Crossbasket for the past 10 years, helping to realise their vision. Our sister company Select will continue to support the reservations and revenue management of Crossbasket Castle and we wish Alison and Steve continued success.”
