The Michelin Guide-listed restaurant in Urmston, which was due to close due to cost pressures earlier this year, has relaunched with a new sharing plates concept
Restaurant Örme in Urmston, Manchester, has announced plans to relaunch on 1 July, moving away from a tasting menu to a sharing plates concept.
The neighbourhood restaurant had originally planned to close its doors for good as trading had become “unfeasible” due to "significant economic pressures".
But the owners have made the decision to relaunch the restaurant at the existing site with a new “social dining” concept offering.
The restaurant will offer guests seasonal small plates intended for sharing, as well as a feasting menu offering the chef’s selection of dishes.
Rachel Roberts, operations and wine director, Örme, said: "We are excited to be taking Örme in a new direction, deepening our roots in the local community.
“We’ve always seen this as an extension of our home, and we want guests to feel like they are invited in for tea. With our extended opening hours, we will be welcoming walk-ins and drinkers.”
Jack Fields, chef director from Örme, added: “Our new menu allows us to collaborate closely with our suppliers and access highly seasonal produce with the freedom to change the dishes on a more frequent basis.”
“It’s a more paired back and comforting approach, but still highlights British ingredients using the classic techniques that Örme is built on. The relaunch will also introduce refreshed interiors, a renewed drinks offering and a continued emphasis on local and seasonal ingredients.”
Snacks will include the likes of salt’n’vinegar scampi with curry mayo, and smoked Lancashire cheese custard on fried bread with red onion jam.
Main plates will offer cured Cornish mackerel, roasted onion dressing and English peas, and spring lamb, served with sweet and sour mint & BBQ cavolo nero; while desserts will include upside down treacle tart, served with raspberries, lemon thyme and ginger, and a strawberry, balsamic and lime sundae.
Restaurant Örme first opened in 2023 by co-founders Tom Wilson, Rachel Roberts and Jack Fields as a British fine dining venue serving both tasting menus and à la carte with a Nordic twist.
After three years establishing the restaurant, Wilson has taken the decision to step away from the business at the end of June, with ownership and direction of the business to be directed by Robers and Fields.
