The 81-bedroom hotel is set within a restored 17th century textile warehouse in London’s Shoreditch
Amsterdam-based boutique hotel group Sir Hotels has finally opened the doors to its first London property, Sir Devonshire Square.
The 81-bedroom hotel, part of the wider Sircle Collection, is set within a restored 17th century textile warehouse in Shoreditch.
Plans for the property were first announced in November 2022, with an initial opening date slated for autumn 2023.
Samuel Wright, director of design studio Maison 191, led on the Bauhaus-style interiors, and took inspiration from the works of textile artist Anni Albers, musician Quincy Jones and architect John Lautner.
The guest rooms – 14 of which are suites – are grounded in deep blues, greens and earthy reds, with natural timber and metallic accents.
The hotel features an all-day dining restaurant, a monthly programme of cultural events, as well as the Sir Shop. Meanwhile, the lounge currently showcases artwork from the likes of Femi Dawkins, Glen Gashi and Deepak.
As part of Sir Hotels’ dedicated Sir Cares charity division, Sir Devonshire Square has partnered with London-based social mobility organisation 20/20 Levels to fund mentorship, training and career development opportunities.
As part of the next phase of its opening, the hotel will launch the Cover private members’ club and a flagship restaurant. Plans for an in-house gym are currently underway, with guests encouraged to use the facilities from a local fitness partner in the meantime.
Mark Jonathan Heyburn, general manager of Sir Devonshire Square, said: “We’re so proud to offer something truly distinctive in London. Sir Devonshire Square combines the intimacy of a boutique hotel with a strong connection to our East London creative spirit, with the refined design and comfort Sir Hotels is known for.”
Sircle Collection was founded in 2011 and has since grown to four hotel brands: Sir Hotels, Max Brown Hotels, Provocateur and Park Centraal Hotels.
Room rates at Sir Devonshire Square start from £290 per night.
