The MasterChef presenter said “I will not go quietly” amid reports of his dismissal
BBC News has reported that MasterChef presenter Gregg Wallace has been sacked from his role following a six-month inquiry.
Late last year, the television personality “stepped away” from hosting MasterChef following historical allegations of misconduct.
MasterChef producers then appointed law firm Lewis Silkin to lead an investigation into the alleged misconduct, the results of which are expected back imminently.
Wallace released a statement on Instagram today, which said that the report had cleared him of “the most serious and sensational accusations” made against him, but had found him “primarily guilty of inappropriate language between 2005 and 2018”.
He added: “I recognise that some of my humour and language, at times, was inappropriate. For that, I apologise without reservation. But I was never the caricature now being sold for clicks”. He added that he was hired by the BBC and MasterChef “as the cheeky greengrocer”.
The presenter lashed out at the BBC in his post saying: “I will not go quietly”.
The TV personality has fronted MasterChef, Celebrity MasterChef and MasterChef: The Professionals since 2005 as well as appearing on shows such as Saturday Kitchen and Inside the Factory.
