Hilton Brighton Metropole to rebrand following £26m refurb

The Hilton Brighton Metropole hotel is set to rebrand as the DoubleTree by Hilton Brighton Metropole following a major £26m refurbishment.

Once complete, the refurbishment will extend across the entire seafront hotel, including its 321 bedrooms, the 1890 At The Met restaurant and Metropole Bar & Terrace, 24 meetings and event spaces that hold up to 3,000 people, and the reception and lobby.

It will also see the creation of the Presidential Suite, which will offer three king bedrooms, three bathrooms, three sea-view balconies and a living area.

The Brighton Metropole first opened in 1890 and was designed by Alfred Waterhouse, who was also behind the design of the Natural History Museum in London.

The refurbishment will pay homage to the heritage of the original building and take inspiration from Brighton's art scene.

Rekha Sohun, general manager of DoubleTree by Hilton Brighton Metropole, said: "We are proud of the heritage of the Brighton Metropole and the affection that guests have for this historic property.

"Known for its contemporary accommodation and signature warm hospitality, DoubleTree by Hilton is the perfect brand to reflect the ethos of our newly refurbished hotel, and we can't want to start this exciting new chapter."

Official rebranding is scheduled to finish in mid-May.

The Caterer reported on the multimillion-pound refurbishment back in 2019, which at the time came under a new partnership between owner Topland and developer First Base.

The hotel had also received a £2m facelift in 2004.
