The Tawny hotel to add solar panels as property continues ‘sustainability journey'

The Tawny hotel in Staffordshire has revealed plans to install over 100 solar panels and 14 EV chargers by the end of this year.

It comes after the hotel, which launched in 2021, announced a renewable energy investment that is forecasted to decrease carbon emissions by 20 tonnes.

Josh Chadwick, general manager of the Tawny and a recipient of the 2022 Acorn Award, said: "This next phase of development marks an exciting step in our sustainability journey. As pioneers of doing things differently, as we have with our deconstructed hotel design, we look forward to embracing this new state-of-the-art technology to enhance our services."

The Tawny has also expanded its offering to include three new serviced rentals called the Fledglings, the first of which will open to guests in December 2023.

Each rental will include a personalised concierge service as well as added options such as firepit and marshmallow packages, private dining experiences, and pop-up cinema nights.

Kestrel Cottage, which is due to launch over the festive period, will offer four ensuite bedrooms, as well as a games room, private bar, landscaped gardens and an outdoor heated swimming pool.

Falcon Farmhouse, which will sleep eight people and include a plunge pool, will open in spring 2024, while the third property is due to launch in spring 2025.

The Tawny hotel is set within the 70-acre grounds of the Consall Hall Estate and Gardens.

In 2018, three years before the launch of the hotel, owners Fran and William Scott-Moncrieff and Ben and Sarah Reeves began a joint venture to secure a sustainable future for the estate, which dates back to 1246.
