Two arrests made following fatal shooting at Edinburgh pub

Two people have been arrested in connection with a firearms incident at an Edinburgh pub that resulted in the death of a 38-year-old man.

Emergency services were called at 11.50pm on Sunday 31 December 2023 after a firearm was discharged at the Anchor Inn pub on West Granton Road during Hogmanay celebrations.

Two men aged 38 and 39 were seriously injured and both were subsequently taken to hospital.

The 38-year-old man was pronounced dead soon afterwards.

A 32-year-old man and a 25-year-old woman have been arrested in connection with the incident amid ongoing enquiries.

Detective superintendent Graham Grant from the major investigation team at Police Scotland said: "We'd like to thank the local community for their support and patience while enquiries are ongoing.

"There will continue to be an increased police presence in the area and anyone with further concerns should speak to officers, call 101, or in the case of an emergency, 999."
