The deal is aimed at creating a broader range of sustainable food packaging solutions for the enlarged business
Sabert Corporation has acquired Colpac, a UK-based manufacturer of sustainable paperboard packaging solutions for the food-to-go, foodservice and industrial markets.
The acquisition was formally completed on 31 July 2025.
Founded in 1937 and headquartered in Flitwick, Bedfordshire UK, Colpac has remained family-owned for generations and has grown to offer an extensive range of food packaging solutions.
For US-headquartered Sabert, the acquisition represents a strategic milestone, aimed at enhancing its presence in the UK, Irish and European markets and reinforcing its global paperboard offering. Sabert believes Colpac’s capabilities in design, manufacturing and customer partnerships are “a natural fit” for the group.
The combined business will offer an expanded product portfolio, and is intended to strengthen the joint enterprise’s design, agility, UK-based manufacturing capabilities and its platform for sustainable innovation.
Sabert CEO Paul McCann said the acquisition marked “an important milestone in our ongoing investment in the UK and our focus on expanding our diverse product portfolio of innovative, sustainable solutions”.
He added: “Both companies believe that a culture of sustainability, quality and high service levels is the foundation of building lasting relationships with our customers. Now, as one team, we can accelerate our efforts even further to develop and deliver sustainable, innovative solutions as our customers’ trusted food packaging provider.”
Colpac managing director Andrew Grimbaldeston said: “Colpac’s team, heritage and specialist paperboard expertise are a perfect complement to Sabert’s portfolio. Together, we are better equipped to serve customers with a broad, innovative and sustainable range of food packaging solutions.”
Alex Noake, managing director of Sabert’s European business area, added: “As someone who has worked with Colpac both as a customer and more recently as a competitor, I’ve always held deep respect for the business. They’ve long been known for product excellence, customer care and integrity; qualities we value deeply. Now, as part of the same group, I’m excited about what we can achieve together.”
