He joins from the Newt in Somerset, where he was hotel general manager
Ashley Ely, the former hotel general manager at the Newt in Somerset, has been appointed hotel director at the Pig-near Bath.
According to his LinkedIn profile, Ely was hotel general manager at the Newt in Somerset for roughly two years, having departed in March.
He also has extensive general manager experience with Locke hotels and Chewton Glen in Hampshire, where he was hotel director for two years.
Ely takes over from Steff Jones, who has moved to the Pig-in the Cotswolds, where he is hotel director.
In a post on LinkedIn, Ely said: “After a lovely break, I’m delighted to have started as hotel director at the Pig-near Bath. What a beautiful spot and an incredibly talented and fun team, all supported by a brilliant central crew and complemented by the rest of the litter far and wide.”
The 31-bedroom Pig-near Bath was launched in 2014 as the group’s fourth property.
In July, the Pig named Kevin Styles as its chief executive, taking over from Tom Ross, who led the group for two years, having been a part of it for 12.
The Pig’s first site opened in the New Forest in 2011, and it has grown to nine boutique hotels and a pub across the south of England.
Private equity firm KSL Capital Partners took a stake in the B Corp-rated business in 2022, and the group is eyeing further expansion.
