The university-owned hotel was launched in 2018
The University of Birmingham-owned Edgbaston Park hotel has secured B Corp certification.
The 185-bedroom hotel and conference centre was launched in 2018 on the university campus, just two miles from the city centre.
It was recognised for its commitment to sustainability, waste management, energy efficiency and promoting local businesses, such as the Birmingham Brewing Company.
Moreover, the property was praised for its employee culture and its support of organisations such as the St Basils Homeless Charity.
Richard Metcalfe, chief executive officer at Edgbaston Park hotel, said: “We couldn’t be more delighted. I’m grateful to my fantastic team for always going the extra mile to ensure we not only give customers excellent service, but we do the right thing by the planet, our community and our staff too.
“We’re very proud to be recognised as a force for good, and excited to continue our journey together with other B Corporations to benefit communities, people and the planet as a whole.”
Edgbaston Park hotel now joins the likes of the Pig Hotels, Bingham Riverhouse in London’s Richmond, and One Aldwych in London’s Covent Garden, all of which have B Corp accreditation.
