The 7,000 sq ft canal-side dining venue is opening later this month in a former steelworks site in Dudley
Midlands-based event and venue operator Digbeth Dining Club is to launch a 7,000 sq ft street food market in Dudley later this month.
Opening on 27 February, Dockworks Waterfront will be a canal-side dining and event venue, taking over a former steelworks site in Brierley Hill that sat empty for 15 years.
The project involved a £500,000 refit of the space, which has a combined capacity of 650, and is expected to create up to 50 new hospitality jobs.
Dockworks Waterfront will welcome seven street food traders that will change regularly, including MasterChef: The Professionals champion Dan Lee.
It will also offer live music, comedy nights, quizzes, sports screenings and independent markets similar in style to Digbeth Dining Club’s sister venue, Herbert’s Yard in Birmingham.
Jack Brabant, co-founder and director of Digbeth Dining Club, said: “Dockworks means so much more to us than opening a new venue. It’s about us bringing back a long-forgotten but important site and filling it with good food, good people and good times.
“We encourage all fans of casual dining and social experiences to join us and help us to shape this new community venue.”
Cat Eccles, MP for Stourbridge, added: “The arrival of Dockworks Waterfront represents a major vote of confidence in the Black Country, as well as a clear sign that hospitality businesses are still at the heart of our communities.
“We hope this latest addition to Dudley’s business ecosystem acts as a ‘game-changing’ catalyst, attracting more visitors, boosting our vibrant nightlife and highlighting the West Midlands as an attractive place to live, work and visit.”
Digbeth Dining Club was founded in 2012.
