The new initiative will gather stories of the power of the industry from restaurants, hotels, pubs and bars and contract catering
The Caterer is excited to announce the launch of This Is Hospitality, a campaign designed to champion and celebrate everything that is exceptional and vital about the UK hospitality sector.
Launched at a time when the industry is being tested on every front, the campaign celebrates what hospitality does best: create opportunities, build communities and bring people together.
This Is Hospitality will shine a spotlight on the businesses and individuals using hospitality as a force for good – championing those who support their communities, create positive social impact and push the sector’s influence far beyond its boundaries.
From operators at the heart of their local neighbourhoods to businesses and organisations driving wellbeing and change on a national scale, the campaign seeks out those making a meaningful difference through hospitality.
The campaign is already backed by leading industry voices and will bring together people from every corner of the sector, from its most respected names to those just starting out, in order to celebrate the industry at its best.
Tom Kerridge, chef and owner of the two-Michelin-starred the Hand & Flowers in Marlow, Buckinghamshire, said: “You live your best life… Hospitality has the best social life, better than any other.”
Meanwhile, Amber Francis, who was crowned the Champion of Champions on the BBC’s Great British Menu last year, said that hospitality is an industry full of opportunity: “What I love about the hospitality industry is that it doesn’t matter your background or where you come from, if you’re prepared to work hard, put the energy and the effort in and really want to learn and constantly develop, then you can go really far,” she said.
The Caterer editor James Stagg said: “The This is Hospitality campaign will collect positive stories from businesses in the UK to paint a picture of life in the sector from the point of view of those working in hotels, restaurants and contract catering businesses.
“As the sector struggles under the weight of rising input costs and a huge tax burden, this multimedia campaign will be the antidote to that gloom, showcasing what makes hospitality such a unique sector in which to work and demonstrating the contribution it makes to local communities and the wider country.”
Sophie Smith, chief people officer at Compass Group UK & Ireland, said: “This is a great campaign to showcase our industry and what we can offer people in terms of career opportunities and development. We are an industry without barriers and, at Compass, we believe in giving everyone the tools and training they need to thrive. We can’t wait to showcase some of our amazing Compass colleagues who are doing just that.”
The campaign will feature a rolling programme of news stories, in-depth features, Q&As, social content and user-generated contributions.
