He returns to Claridge’s after eight years at the Corinthia, where he was also managing director
Thomas Kochs has been appointed managing director of Claridge’s in London’s Mayfair.
Kochs has held the same role at the Corinthia in London since 2017 and previously worked as managing director at Hotel Café Royal.
His new appointment sees the hotelier return to Claridge’s, where he worked as general manager from 2009 to 2015.
He has also held roles at the Berkeley and the Connaught, which are both run by Claridge’s luxury parent group Maybourne, and is a trustee of the Gold Service Scholarship.
Kochs said: “I am so looking forward to being reunited with a hotel and colleagues very dear to my heart and steering Claridge’s, a much loved and revered hotel, into the next chapter of its distinguished history. I am also particularly proud to be rejoining Maybourne as it enters a dynamic period of global growth and expansion and seeing this vision come to life.”
Roland Fasel, chief operating officer of Maybourne, added: “We know with Thomas’s reputation for innovation, creativity and the highest service standards he will ensure that Claridge’s reinforces its position as the leading hotel in the beating heart of Mayfair, as well as a legend on the world stage.”
Kochs’ appointment comes after Claridge’s completed its seven-year renovation and restoration project, which has led to new additions such as a spa, a rooftop swimming pool, art gallery, café, and an extra three floors housing 72 new suites.
Maybourne operates Claridge’s, the Connaught, the Berkeley, the Emory, the Maybourne Beverly Hills and the Maybourne Riviera.
