Michael Caines, Nieves Barragán Mohacho and Rafael Cagali all had restaurants join the guide’s listings
The Michelin Guide Great Britain and Ireland has added a further 25 new restaurants to its online listings this month.
The guide updates its recommendations each month based on its inspectors’ travels, with any additions highlighted by a ‘New’ symbol.
It will not be confirmed if any of the restaurants will receive a further star, Bib Gourmand, or other award until the launch of the 2026 guide in Dublin next February.
New additions include chef Nieves Barragán Mohacho’s Legado in London’s Shoreditch. The guide described the Spanish chef’s second solo outpost as offering “exuberant cooking and well-oiled service”, with an “extensive menu shows off all the kitchen’s considerable talents”, including a whole section on suckling pig.
Having opened in September, Michael Caines at the Stafford, the chef’s first London restaurant, earned a listing for “bringing a little part of Devon into St James’s” through dishes including “beautifully executed” crab and mackerel tart.
Also making the list is Rafael Cagali’s Maré, which takes its name from the Portuguese for ‘tide’, reflecting the ever-changing seasonality of the cooking at this neighbourhood restaurant. Inspectors praised the “highly original menu”, with dishes like ox tongue and lobster rice, at this latest addition to the Brighton and Hove dining scene.
Cornish restaurants were well represented, with Ben and Anna Harrison’s Counter Culture, Paul Welburn’s Fern, Charlie Walters’ Narla, and Tim Spedding and Louise Rødkjær’s Flora - which won Menu of the Year at the 2025 Cateys - all making the cut.
In Scotland there was recognition for the Three Chimneys restaurant with rooms on the Isle of Skye, located within the island’s oldest distillery, and Aberdeen’s Mara.
Irish capital Dublin, which will host the 2026’s guide’s launch in February, scored a double listing for Italian restaurant Borgo and all-day dining venue, Vada.
There were no new Welsh or Northern Irish additions to the guide in December.
