The opening comes 10 years after the original Hotel Gotham opened in Manchester
Hotel Gotham Newcastle is set to feature a private members’ club when it finally opens its doors in September.
Bespoke Hotels first secured planning permission to convert a disused city centre fire station in to a hotel in 2021 and was given the green light to add a further 30 bedrooms last year.
The first phase of the hotel will open in the former fire station with 57 bedrooms, including six suites, and a new restaurant and bar.
Rooms will include roll-top baths, marble monsoon showers and large emperor beds.
Guests will also have access to Club Brass, the hotel’s private members’ club, which will be hidden behind a discreet door and spread across two floors. The lounge will feature velvet booths, cocktails and host private events including art openings and other “hand-picked experiences”.
Phase two will open in early 2026 in the adjoining former police station building, which is connected to the main hotel by a glazed corridor. This will include an extra 30 rooms and see the former court room transformed into an event space to host weddings and celebrations for up to 120 guests.
The Newcastle launch will come 10 years after the original Hotel Gotham opened in an Art Deco building in Manchester in 2015.
Chris Thompson, general manager at Hotel Gotham Newcastle, said: “There’s nothing like this in the North East. Gotham is where heritage meets hedonism. Newcastle is a city full of energy and personality, and we feel this new space really reflects that. We’ve worked hard to honour the history of the buildings while creating something fresh and memorable.”
Bespoke Hotels intends to open an Hotel Gotham in Bristol in 2026.
Plans to open a Hotel Gotham in Glasgow were announced in 2019 but are no longer going ahead.
