Extraordinary People: Extraordinary Service: Extraordinary Careers

Accor Culture and Style
Our employees are responsible and empowered. We expect our teams to make their own decisions and provide them with all the training and tools they need to do their jobs - for example all our employees attend our award winning customer service programme "Service Extraordinaire". We recognise the need to engage our employees ensuring their satisfaction in order to achieve our vision of offering extraordinary service to our guests. In a recent survey conducted among staff, 86% thought the company did whatever it took to satisfy customers, and tellingly, 82% were proud to belong to the Group.

You and Accor
At Accor all employees are valued and respected and we have been recognised as an Investor in People since 1997. We have a formalized open door policy, supported by innov@ccor, our intranet suggestion box. Career opportunities are vast within Accor. All jobs are advertised on Accorjobs, our HR web site . The Jobs Skills Guide allows our employees to check their skills against jobs they want to apply for, giving them the perfect chance to make a case for more training at their annual appraisal or at any time with their manager. People wanting to further their career are invited to Accor Career Days, at which job openings worldwide are discussed. Around 15% of all our staff transfer within the group each year.

Training & Development at Accor
The company takes training very seriously and we have our own Corporate University, the Accor Academy in Paris, in which we recently invested £4 million making it a state of the art facility. Every hotel has a PC dedicated to the staff communications and training- PC@accor. Training happens at all levels. For example we have a programme called Progres, where employees can move through bronze, silver, gold and platinum standards resulting in salary increases as they gain new skills and confidence. In partnership with HCTC we support NVQs and have 75 Modern Apprentices, including 12 in our Accor Chefs Academy. Our Graduate Development Programme takes around 12 graduates per year and we offer more than 200 placements. Our Management training is accredited by HCIMA and at a more senior level the Management Development Programme offers a fast track to General Management -now in its 9th year, 25 of the UK's General Managers are in their jobs as a direct result of following this course.

If you are looking for an Extraordinary company to further your career we would certainly like to hear from you-
