Mandarin Oriental Hyde Park launches Chilean restaurant Lucho

Mandarin Oriental Hyde Park in London's Knightsbridge has launched Lucho, a new dinner-only restaurant offering Chilean cuisine.

Executive chef Francisco Hernandez showcases Chilean recipes passed down from his grandfather, Luis, who was affectionately called Lucho.

Lucho, from whom the restaurant takes its name, was known to host regular gatherings for friends and family at the back of his grocery store in Chile. The evenings featured home-cooked food, board games and creative cocktails.

Hernandez's restaurant takes inspiration from this tradition, serving dishes such as palta cardenal, which features avocado and prawns; British seafood tiraditos; pastel de choclo made from corn; and Abuelo Luis' favourite, pescado al horno.

Lucho will take over the hotel's Rosebery afternoon tea suite from Thursday to Saturday evenings.

The Rosebery will continue to offer afternoon tea outside of Lucho's operating hours.

The launch of Lucho comes after Mandarin Oriental Hyde Park announced the addition of a private omakase experience, the Ukiyo Room, last month.
