£2.5m for S&N revamps
Scottish & Newcastle brewery's tenancy division, which has more than 700 pubs, is investing £2.5m to redevelop 16 sites and introduce more food into its pubs.
Over the next four to five years, 15% of S&N's tenanted properties will be redeveloped.
The money will go toward giving the pubs one of two new identities. One, Cooper's Kitchen, involves the introduction of food, while the second revolves around James H Porter, creator of Newcastle Brown Ale.
The pubs will be fitted with external logos, etched mirrors and portraits of Porter.
