98% of hotels affected by foot-and-mouth

Ninety-eight per cent of hoteliers and bed-and-breakfast owners have been affected by the foot-and-mouth crisis, according to one poll last week.

Hotelswop.com, an e-business launched in January to allow hoteliers to barter rooms and services, asked its 4,500 members whether they had been affected.

Of almost 1,000 respondents, very nearly all said the outbreak had either directly or indirectly affected their business.
