Alias chief goes solo in Luton

Peter St Lawrence, former managing director of Alias Hotels, is set to take over the Shannon hotel in Luton in January in his first solo venture. The 28-bedroom, townhouse hotel and restaurant will target middle-market guests and St Lawrence aims for a three-star rating after refurbishment. "I spent a long time looking for the right place and I think Luton is on the up," he said.

St Lawrence, who left Alias in August 2001, says his departure was inspired by a desire to follow in Alias founders Neil Chapman and Nicholas Dickinson's entrepreneurial footsteps. "I've got the bug," he said.
