Augustus Group plans £1m refurb at Brighton's Amalfi

Brighton-based Augustus Hotel Group is planning to transform its Amalfi hotel into a boutique hotel to open in September.

The group, which bought the seafront hotel last year, is spending £1m on refurbishment and will close the Amalfi next month for the refit.

All 22 bedrooms are to be individually designed with an Asian theme and will cost from £80-£300. The group, which also owns the Cecil House and New Madeira hotels in Brighton, is aiming for four- to five-star accreditation at the Amalfi.

It is also in talks with the Gingerman restaurant in Brighton to run a restaurant within the hotel.
