Ueli Prager, honorary chairman and a founder of Switzerland-based Mîvenpick Hotels and Restaurants, received a lifetime achievement award at the first European Foodservice Summit in Zurich last week.

Strattons hotel in Swaffham, Norfolk, has won theBritish Airways Tourism for Tomorrow Award 2000. The seven-bedroom hotel, owned by Vanessa and Les Scott, won for its contribution to environmental tourism.

The Radisson SAS Hotel Manchester Airport has been judged Airport Hotel of the Year in the Cheshire Life Food and Wine Awards. Chef Raymond Blanc presented the prize to Tarje Hellebust, the hotel's regional director and general manager, and Michele Somers, director of sales and marketing.

Manchester's 48-bedroom Castlefield hotel has been awarded a Certificate ofBest Employment Practiceby the British Hospitality Association. The Excellence Through People award scheme encourages good employment practices.

Hotel & Catering Training Company (HCTC) trainee Trudy Wield has been named Modern Apprentice of the Year. She is a receptionist at the Wessex hotel in Winchester. An HCTC trainee also won the award last year.
