The winners of the Wales Tourist Board's 1995 Tourism Awards will be announced at Cardiff International Arena on 17 May.
Shortlisted candidates include: Penyclawdd Court guesthouse, Abergavenny (community/ environmental award); Llangoed Hall hotel at Llyswen, near Brecon (best large business); Penally Abbey country house hotel, near Tenby (best medium-sized business); Café Bardi at Cyfarthfa Castle, Merthyr Tydfil; and Maes-y-Gwernen guesthouse, Abercraf (best small business).
best bartender
Bevan Middleton, head barman at Portofino's bar in Lytham St Annes, Lancashire, was last week named Bacardi/Martini Young Bartender of 1995.
Mr Middleton won the competition's national final at Southampton's Martini Museum where he beat nine other contestants.
He and runner-up Laurent Giraud-Dumas of London's Lanesborough hotel will represent the UK at the world final in Germany in July.

The Scottish Tourist Board (STB) has launched the fourth Scottish Thistle Awards for Tourism.

Karen Jones, managing director of the Pelican Group, was shortlisted in yesterday's Veuve Clicquot Business Woman of the Year Award. The winner was Patricia Vaz, director of BT Payphones.
