Bailey quits Restaurant Associates

David Bailey, the managing director of fine dining and restaurants at Compass subsidiary Restaurant Associates (RA), has resigned.

Compass said that Bailey had decided to quit and would be leaving the company shortly to "pursue his own interests". The company would not comment on why Bailey had handed in his notice and was leaving the company so suddenly.

Bailey was responsible for RA's key City of London accounts, including Goldman Sachs, Credit Suisse and Morgan Stanley. He also looked after Roux Fine Dining, Leith's and Charters business.

He was made joint managing director of the fine-dining division in August last year following the departure of RA's chief executive Patrick Dempsey to Scottish group Macdonald Hotels. He shared the role with Keith Hudspith, who was made managing director of RA's hotels and public restaurants business at the same time.

Philip Nash, business development director, has been appointed as the new managing director looking after the business and industry portfolio. He has been with RA since the company launched in the UK in 2001.
