Bazaar bar

Bazaar bar

Part bar, part bazaar, Jim Thompson's on London's King's Road is inspired by its namesake - the man who opened up Thailand's silk industry, then vanished mysteriously on a walking trip in Malaysia.

Thompson would have been proud of it. Silks of many hues dangle from the glass ceiling and designer Ivan Speight has kept surroundings muted to enhance the exotic furnishings. The former pub was stripped back to the brickwork, which has been left exposed, complemented by terracotta and grey slate floor tiles. Plants and artefacts are displayed on wooden platforms. Proprietor Tony Carson's menu offers Thai and Malaysian specialities.
