BBC drops Starbucks trial

The BBC is to close the Broadcasting House branch of the Starbucks chain of coffee shops at the end of this month.

The corporation had installed a branch of the US chain at Broadcasting House, London, on trial.

A spokeswoman said: "It was always agreed it would close at the end of this month."

The broadcaster also has a Costa coffee cart at its Television Centre, but this would not be closing as it was "very popular with staff".

Starbucks said the closure at the BBC "was not something we could comment on at this stage".
