Brown wins £2,000 boost to his training

Roy Brown, of the Peat Inn, Cupar in Fife, has received the William Heptinstall Millennium Award. A graduate of Glenrothes College who joined the Peat Inn two years ago, Brown has already done stages at Le Manoir aux Quat'Saisons, Great Milton, Oxfordshire, and La Belle Otéro in Cannes, France.

David Wilson, chef-proprietor of the Peat Inn, described Brown as "without doubt the best young chef I have had going through the system for some years".

The William Heptinstall Award, established in 1973, is organised by the International Wine & Food Society and is named in memory of the patron of Fortingall hotel in Glen Lyon, Perthshire.

Brown's prize includes £2,000 to help him further his work abroad during his training years.
